為動詞時，climb意為：攀登,上升,爬；為名詞時，意為：攀登；巖；增值；晉升。

climb the walls 不是爬墻，而是表示“感到無能為力”。
e.g. His job soon had him climbing the walls.
他的工作很快使他感到無能為力。
climb down 原意是爬下來，但是也有“退讓，讓步，屈服”之意。
e.g. He was forced to climb down over the central package in the bill.
他被迫在議案的中心一攬子提議上做出讓步。
have a mountain to climb 原意是我有一座山要爬，引申的意思不難猜到，意為“面臨挑戰”

Climb 爬和 creep , crawl 的爬的區別
climb ：一般指用手或足爬上或爬下，也指事物上升，如太陽月亮飛機等，還可用作比喻。
e.g. The temperature climbed.
溫度慢慢上升
creep ：常指人或動物匍匐爬行，偷偷不出聲地，不知不覺地緩慢上升或爬行；也指植物的生長
e.g. They'll creep up on you while you're asleep.
他們會在你睡著的時候悄悄接近你
嬰兒爬也可用creep
crawl ：指人或動物以身軀貼著地面緩慢地移動。
e.g. We learn to crawl before we learn to walk．我們學會走路之前先要學會爬
Climb 攀登和 ascend、mount 的攀登的區別
ascend：較為正式，一般指抽象意義的攀登，不是真的用手攀
e.g. He could then ascend to the prime ministerial job after elections in 2015.
并且在隨后的2015年大選中，他很可能一舉登上總理職位。
climb：含義廣泛，側重運用手足費力地攀登或上升，當然也可指抽象事物
e.g. They boosted him up so he could climb the oak tree.
他們把他托起來，使他能爬上橡樹。
mount：書面用語，與ascend相近，但強調的是連續不斷地向上攀登或上漲
e.g. The pressure for change continued to mount.
改革的呼聲持續高漲。
e.g. He was mounted on a black horse.
