Her firebrand—hair blazed as glorious as a sunrise. Her long limbs promised the
sweet mysteries of the night.
Phaeton and the Chariot of the Sun
The god's eyes blazed like fire and the crown on his head seemed to be made of
pure radiant light.

He laughed wildly at her. "I have no superiors, you little fool! I am an empire builder

blaze的一些常見用法:
作名詞:
blaze 用作名詞的基本意思是“火焰,烈火”,指突然、猛烈迸發出明亮強光的火,可用來比喻“(燈光、顏色等的)光輝,閃耀”,也可用來比喻“(強烈感情的)驟然迸發”。
注意:blaze 只用于單數形式,作“光輝,閃光”及“迸發,爆發”解時常與 of 連用。
e.g. We warmed our hands near the blaze of the campfire.
我們在篝火的火焰旁暖手。
作動詞:
blaze的基本含義是“熊熊燃燒,同時發射出光和熱”,引申可指“怒火中燒”,在句中可用作及物動詞,也可用作不及物動詞,但多用作不及物動詞。
e.g. The tree will blaze with lights on Christmas.
圣誕節時,這樹將被燈飾綴得閃閃發光。
其他語境中,blaze還可以作別解,舉幾個例子:
He blazed up without warning. (迸發,爆發,突然動怒)
他突如其來地勃然大怒。
The news was blazed all over the daily papers. (大肆宣揚,傳播,宣布)
