昂立外語【新概念培訓】分享strike這個小詞。strike是中考考綱單詞，意思是：敲，打擊，侵襲；鐘鳴。在口譯中的常用詞，在表意上很有優越性。同學們在該詞的發音、動詞變化、用法上存在很多問題，今天我們一起來總結一下：
作為動詞：
發音：strike重點的字母“i”要發本音，雙元音，為元輔e結構的開音節，符合發音規律。
動詞變化：strike-struck-struck 記憶成ABB形，比較簡單。
用法1：敲擊，擊打 hit sth. against sharply, with the hand, fist, or weapon
同學們不妨從一個場景入手記住這個含義及用法：我們不要“坐一天和尚，撞一天鐘”一樣湊合混日子。
敲鐘：strike the bell (pic)
劃火柴：strike a match
e.g. The big waves struck the rocks of the bank.
巨浪拍擊著岸邊的巖石。(pic)
He was struck by a heavy blow.
他受到重重的一擊。(pic)
這里是vt. strike sth. strike還可以表示“鐘鳴”，為vi.
來看看新概念2中的應用：

It would strike twelve in twenty minutes' time.
strike表示“鐘響”vi，“用力敲擊”vt.
e.g. strike the hours
打點報時
strike while the iron is hot.
打鐵趁熱
The instrument was bought by my grandfather many years ago. Recently it was damaged by a visitor. She tried to play jazz on it! She struck the keys too hard and two of the strings were broken.

The speed-boat had struck a buoy, but it continued to move very quickly across the water.
快艇撞擊了一個浮標，但是繼續在水面上快速行駛。
用法2：strike vt. “侵襲”
以上strike用法比較形象具體，都是擊打具體一樣實物，看看下面由“擊打”這一含義引申出來的另外一個意思。

最形象的例子是：be struck by the lightning
被閃電擊中
到目前為止，還沒有人遭受到死亡的侵襲。這里是“打擊，撞擊”含義的進一步引申，有受到…“侵襲”之意。（沒有人暴死）
e.g. Many people were struck down in that war.
許多人死于那場戰爭。
poverty-stricken area 受到貧困侵襲的地方
窮困潦倒的地方
學習方法：掌握動詞含義，可以從理解一種意向入手，通過例子用聯想的方式掌握其引申義，抓住每個含義之間的想通之處。
作為名詞
strike 表示：罷工 a group's refusal to work in protest against low pay or bad work conditions
go/be on strike
舉行罷工
Busmen have decided to go on strike next week. The strike is due to begin on Tuesday.
巴士司機決定下周舉行罷工。這場罷工定語下周二開始。
在口譯中的用法：
strike sb. as… 給…留下…印象 have an emotional or cognitive impact upon sb.
He struck me as a very serious but friendly person.
他給我留下的印象是一個很嚴肅但友好的人。
