Most of my friends live in the city, yet they always go into raptures at the mere mention of the country(超強的句子!go into rapture,這里用一個很動感的短語表現了friend的狂喜,同時使用了always和mere兩個詞構成鮮明的對比,表達很生動!). The latest exhibitions, films, or plays are only a short bus ride away(a short bus ride away,用具體的描寫替代了nearby這個概念,這是大家應該學習的,以后形容近就可以說:A is only a couple of minutes walk away). Shopping, too, is always a pleasure. There is so much variety that you never have to make do with(make do with,相信這是大家幾乎沒有聽說過的用法,就是湊合著用的意思,和有用的用法,你可以寫:Via the help of B, one will never have to make do with XXX) second best. Country people run wild(run wild是使用避免了crazily這個干癟的詞,如果你能夠用frantically當然也很好)when they go shopping in the city and stagger home loaded with as many of the exotic items as they can carry(OMG,這個句子很具體的寫出了鄉村人的不幸,作者用了stagger蹣跚,loaded with裝載,as many as they can多, exotic items外來物品,4個概念組成了一幅農民進城的生動畫面,閱卷人就喜歡這樣的有details). 在TOEFL考試中其實是很重要的一個東西,簡直是 crucial 句子,以后大家想要形象的描寫一個東西就可以按照這個句子的模式來些). Nor is the city without its moments of beauty(雙重否定表肯定,用這樣的句子就可以顯示出你的語言功底,同時要提醒的是moments of xxx這個用法是要一有機會就用的,比如你先說B有什么不好,再說A很好,你就說Nor is A without its moments of XXX). There is something comforting about the warm glow shed by advertisements on cold wet winter nights. Few things could be more impressive than the peace that descends on deserted city streets at weekends when the thousands that travel to work every day are tucked away in their homes in the country(這個句子你很可能一掠而過,但是這里的結構同樣是值得學習的: Few things could be more impressive than A其實就是A is more impressive than many things,但是這里一個小小的替換就避免了簡單的稱述句,這是那些句子很單一的同學們應該好好學習的).
